A simplish summary of the really complicated story behind ghostlore

Ghostlore takes place during something dubbed "the b3st days of our lives", or at least thats what the ghosts call it, since every single fucking spirit has something else to say about it. You see, during these days, several castles, all of which of increasingly bizzare structure, ranging anywhere from mile high ziggarauts made from indestructable sapphires to bomb shelters turned labrinths began popping up throughout north and south america, bringing the dead along with them.

The most commonly accepted theory is that the only reason any of this happened was due to a bet made against the of the greysides, "Graffiti as a seperate construct from vandalism" (well at least thats the shortened version, the proper pronunciation is the previous phrase but spelled out in the nato phonetic alphabet) relating to the superbowl of previous year being lost, though its very likely that this is a complete lie, given his supposed track record of such. These castles serve as gates to the two forms of the afterlife, the greyside and the beachside (spelled in lower case), which people are randomly sent to after death. Your actions and age do not matter to the gods, since creating a morality system that actually worked consistently is a pain in the ass without constant updates, so they just settled for this. The greyside are a series of mildly varied clones of the same long dead city trapped within an infinitely expanding cave with a roof located a mere 10 miles above ones head. Each of these are seperated by a green sulfurous ocean, filled to the brim with mutant fish and barbed wire. The beachside is signficantly better, since the skies are open and full of (fake) stars, the beaches arent covered in glass with swimmable water, and the tapwaters actually drinkable

the series follows a friendgroup consisting of five of these ghosts, The receptionist, a nameless ghost who works the gates of hell and absolutely hates everyone outside this group, and tries to make the

Spirit taxonomy

GHOSTS/sp1th3d5

Ghosts, or as they call themselves "sp1th3d5" (pronounced numbers and all) are these strange borderline alien spirits, whove all but forgetten everything about their past lives, right down to langauge, and have been nursing their failing understanding of humanity via whatever bits of internet are able to reach their way into hell, reguritated through a bizzare game of telephone that leads to everyone talking with the same flat cadence and bizzare pronouncation of an early tts. They really do think soi is pronounced like that, and that the numbers in leet are both commonplace offline and meant to be spoken aloud. The either live exclusively within the walls of these castles, or in the bodies of still living humans, called "carriers". Any ghost that doesnt have one of is incredibly vunerable to even mild cuts, due to their bodies not being developed for the sharp edges of the moral world. Thankfully, most of them have a slight grace period, allowing them to find themselves a host before they inventiably bleed out from a papercut. Theyre usually quite happy to do interviews and befriend anyone he cares to listen or can even understand their bizzare way of speaking. Ghosts that were able to find their way out of the castles usally argue for their destruction, mostly for petty reasons. They can only listen to music if its been heavily compressed, otherwise it just straight up wont register as anything other than noise.
